Is this the first time in the series Ayanokouji and his cute partner appeared? The first time they appeared was in movie 7(i think) and that movie and this episode is too far apart

yup, as far as i can tell he has NOT appeared in ANY TV episodes other than this one! and he's appeared in six of the movies! number 7 was his first. he first appeared in the manga in chapter 1001 inside tankobon number 94 and he appears in four chapters total.

so, unlike Shiratori who was a movie character first, and didn't make the anime Megure Team till much later on... Ayanokouji has never truly bridged the gap between the manga/movies and the TV episodes. probably since he only works in Kyoto and never leaves it.

the weird thing is... #94 wasn't published in Japan till Dec. 18, 2017!

if you want the book, Viz Media hasn't gotten that far... they're only up to tankobon vol 82 back in April of this year. you'll have to read (the English) online manga.

I can see why this is a one episode filler.

Conan suspected the pink shirt girl because she was "dressed too lightly", but Sonoko is wearing shorts and in other scenes, there are women in skirts. Also, Ran has been known to wear skirts in the snow so...

Also, all this would've been avoided if the "criminal" was just honest and communicated with the staff.

But I'm excited about the movie after this!
